I LOVE IT! How many days are we counting down until this hits the bookstores?
I was thinking of you today… I was talking to another mom who was telling me her neighborhood does a co-op thing where they take turns driving across the state line to an organic farm in South Carolina and loading up everyone’s cooler with fresh, raw milk, meat, and eggs, and then smuggling the food back to North Carolina (where it’s illegal for farmers to sell unpasteurized milk). It’s a 4-hour trip but since they take turns, each family only has to make the drive a couple of times a year.
Cari, the cover is gorgeous and so perfect!!! Did they get this right on the first shot? I had such troubles and fights over the cover of my first novel, but it sounds like you have a great team.
Sara, my love! Isn’t it?!?! The designer worked on a few different concepts, but this is the first one they showed me. So, yep. Perfect on the first try. I can’t say enough good things about my experience with Tin House.
It’s perfect – it gives me goose bumps! I’m a long-time reader and occasional commenter who just can’t wait to read it and celebrate your accomplishment.

Hey Rebecca! The book comes out in October. I’m still at the counting months phase.
What a great thing that neighborhood is doing! It’s too bad they have to travel so far from home, though.
It really is amazing. An urban stairway to heaven…
That’s awesome, Juliette. Hadn’t thought of it that way.
