Today is the tenth

Today is the tenth anniversary of my father’s death. He was fifty years old, a heavy smoker. In the ten years since, I’ve graduated from college, bought an apartment, got married, got separated, had two careers and and am now on the third. My brother went through four years of active duty as a Marine, became a cop, got engaged, and is now in Iraq as a reservist..and our dad wasn’t there for any of it. I’ve missed him every day of these ten years. If any of you out there are still smoking, please do quit. If not for yourself, then for the people who love you.
