Baby sweater progress
Here’s the sweater that I’m making for Billy’s nephew instead of the plain st st rollneck I had planned. It’s from Debbie Bliss Cotton Knits for All Seasons. I had originally reported that the pattern used cables. Andrea has since corrected me. It just uses some simple twisted stitches but nothing as complex as what I’d imagined. What do I know? 🙂
The pattern is dead easy but still a nice change of pace for my fingers. Here’s what I have done so far:
I’m using Takhi Cotton Classic, which I LOVE to knit with. It doesn’t feel dry and grabby like some other cottons I’ve come across. Nice and slippery with great stitch definition. Jacob will be two next month, but I’m making the size 3 to 4 years so he can grow into it. He’s enormous for his age already.
We’re going to look at a few more houses tonight. A challenge with buying a single family home in Brooklyn is finding a good, reasonably priced home in a safe neighborhood within walking distance of the train. So far I’ve seen reasonably priced, I’ve seen safe neighborhood, and I’ve seen walking distance to the train. Unfortunately none of these traits have combined on an individual house yet. And our definition of safe neighborhood is rather broad. We’ll find the right place eventually though. Tonight we’re looking in Flatbush, where my father grew up.
Looks lovely, Cari! Interesting, those twisted stitches, I haven’t seen that anywhere yet.

cari, i must know what cascade 220 colors you used for your suki! i had no desire to make one until i saw pictures of yours over at the knitalong website.
if i’m not infringing on some unwritten knit law, hell, even if i am, i’d be so grateful if you’d divulge the color combo and how many skeins of each you used for that beautiful bag. yeah, okay, and how you did the rings at the bottom BUT THAT’S IT, I SWEAR!
and from the not-just-because-i’m-begging department: that picture below of your dogs cuddled in the easy chair is adorable.

How goes the house-hunting, Cari? I could probably find you guys something in my neighbourhood. 😉 (Thanks for visiting!)

Hi Nakachi. The Suki colors are (sorry, I have the numbers but not the names): 9444, 7825, 9404 and 8895. I think I used a little under two skeins of each, but I made it a while ago and could be off by a bit on one of the colors. The rings were dead easy–the larger bands were 16 rounds and the smaller ones toward the bottom were 8 rounds. Automatic concentric rings.
Alison, the house hunting is going great but I’m going to hold off on further comment until I have everything in writing. I’m feeling kinda superstitious today.
