“Mommy, why is that copyeditor running down the street screaming?”
Ugh. My week is officially (and unofficially, and utterly, and inescapably) dedicated to copyediting a book that is pro-Bush. I mean, WAY pro-Bush. Like even pretending Bush is smart and knows what he’s doing pro-Bush. The hardest part of jobs like this is to maintain objectivity and not give in to the temptation to slip in little subversive edits and then hope they slip past the proofreader.
Again, I say, “Ugh.”
i’m sure you’ve seen this but thought i’d point it out just in case: http://www.hiphopmusic.com/archives/000460.html

wow that sounds like the makings of a very tough week – intellectually at least. considering the author of the book clearly had no objectivity as anyone claiming that bozo has half a brain in his head is far less than objective. how’s that for a non-biased completely middle of the road, i have no issues with his grimy ass, type of comment. ha ha ha ha ha.

hoooo dawgy! you’re a better woman than i am.

Oh, I sympathize. I lay out a very conservative Pro-Bush newspaper, and sometimes the headlines alone make me want to scream right at my desk.

Oh, it’s hard to be professional sometimes, isn’t it? Your title just made me snort, by the way, which isn’t so good, since I’m in the office. Where I’m supposed to be editing. Whatever.

Whoa – better keep a bottle of anti-nausea medicine at hand. My condolences!

I had no idea. I admire your restraint, and I’m not talking about the temptation to slip in subversive edits so much as the temptation to accidentally drop it in a woodchipper. Sounds like you are in for a big reward when this is done.

I work in a hotel in New York City, which means that my August is going to be focusing on the Republican Convention. I am currently trying to figure out what subversive t-shirt I will wear underneath my uniform for when I am sniveling at all the Republicans on the inside and being saccharine at them on the outside… So I can sympathize!

Ugh. I don’t think I could handle it. Just thinking of Bush makes my blood boil. Good luck!

You have my sympathies!!!!

Ugh, what a horrid task. Maybe it will give you even more opportunities to expose what a dumbass he is…yuck.

You could always leave the errors in the Bush quote. Who’d know?
I sympathize.

Ah, irony. Sometimes it makes you laugh, sometimes it makes you cry.
Any chance you could hang on to bits of it and then do a parody later? Parody *is* protected by copyright law, after all . . .

Oh my gawd, what an injustice. So sorry. If this makes you feel any better, check out this link and scroll to the bottom and check out the customer reviews of Bill Frist’s book.
