Bad blogger! No cookies for you!

Alison and I had such a great time while she was here that we completely failed to take photos. Here are some of the things I didn’t document for you:

  • Sadie and Diego dancing with doggy glee when Alison first walked into the house, followed by me dancing with knitterly glee
  • Alison at play in Habu
  • Alison with Koigu fever at Purl
  • Sadie trying to bury her entire muzzle in Alison’s ear
  • Alison meeting my stash and ratting me out to Billy by telling him it’s quite large, even by knitter standards
  • The…um…stash…erm…enhancement we both indulged in…
  • A serious pile of chocolate
  • Billy and Alison making the Thanksgiving turkey together (those wacky meat eaters)
  • Pie for dessert. Pie for dinner. Pie for breakfast. A lovely snack of pie.
  • Alison meeting Cassie, Jackie, Jenn, and John at The Point
  • John wearing my monster sweater and looking better in it than I do
  • Cassie knitting the most covetable pair of socks in all the land
  • Popping Alison into a cab headed for JFK. (sigh…)

It was a really lovely visit, and it ended much too soon. Taking photos–when you and the subjects know the photos will be posted on a blog–can sometimes intrude too much on the moment. Kind of like, “Let’s stop having fun for a second so we can document all the fun we’re having.” So I suspect that’s why neither Alison nor I thought to bring out the cameras. Now that she’s back home rather than sitting on my couch, I do wish I had a photo or two. Ah well.

  1. Pie for breakfast. Yummmmmmm 🙂

Could you, uh, take photos of the stash enhancement, at least? I’m curious…

  2. Oh no, the evil little dog tried to eat Alison’s brain? “I love you so much, I vant to taste your braaaaaains…”

I know that awkward blogger feeling.

  3. I understand the choice to let moments run wild, instead of insisting that they be captured, but why anyone would choose a big dead bird over a tofurkey with carmelized onion and cherry relish is beyond me.

  4. Feeding the blog demands only moderation. One or two pictures never killed anybody — its the constant, the many, that become wearisome.

Maybe we should have a policy…one designated (short) picture time per visit?

    Or not.

Can’t you tell that I’m punting on *my* writing???

  5. Mmmh, pie for meals. Who says carnivores and herbivors cannot get along? I think we all hear you on the picture taking, stop apologising.

  6. I am in love, and in awe, of your stash, which will go down in history and become stuff of legend and lore.
    I’m missing the photos too.
And the cats didn’t even blink when I came home with dog smell on me…
I have unpacked all my yarn, and, umm, there was a little bit, wasn’t there, that I bought. Just a little. Hardly any really.
    Love you 🙂

  7. Sounds like an absolutely perfect visit. I totally hear you on the photo thing, and while I selfishly wish for a pic or two, I’m glad you didn’t interrupt the flow of your time together in order to capture a few photos. I’m glad you all had such fun and hope to meet Alison the next time she visits. As to pie, well, I’m all for pie any time of day or night.

  8. “Feeding the blog” — ha ha ha. I like that. I always have my camera, but more often than not I forget to take pictures. It also helps that my boyfriend is a photographer and I can always make him take the pics. 🙂

Sounds like you had a fabulous time! So glad!

  9. And here I thought I had gotten over my pie craving by eating so much of it over the weekend. But you seem to have reawakened the beast. Glad to hear you had so much fun! If you’re ever at the point on a weeknight, lemme know, and I’ll try to swing by…

  10. you can always take photos for yourself and not for the blog. 🙂 you know “hey i’d like to have a picture of us — for me to have!” there’s no blog requirement…it just feels like there is. ignore it 🙂
