Meet the wonky robot

I needed a date to bring to a first-birthday party this past Sunday, and Billy was busy. What’s a girl to do? Knit herself a date, of course.

His intarsia went a bit wonky once I stuffed him. I managed to straighten it out before the party, but of course not before the photo shoot. You’d think I’d have the hang of this blog photography thing by now. Apparently not.

Robot Date liked the one-year-old of the hour so very much that at the end of the party he decided to stay. Last I heard, he’s taken up residence in the birthday boy’s crib. (My friend Ernesto’s son. I can’t believe he’s a year old already…)

The pattern, as you probably know, is from here. The yarn is the mighty Mission Falls 1824 Wool.

By the way, I’m writing up the pattern for the Baby Yoda sweater today and will post it very soon.

  2. I love how your robot turned out! I’ve made the spherey and I’m down to the last leg of Squarey, but the intarsia freaks me out.

Your little guy’s so cute! (lumps and all!)

  3. I LOVE robot! I’m planning on making one soon, but I have concerns that I’ll knit it ok, but mess up on the construction. Do you have any tips, or was it simple?

  11. Thanks for the pattern! One of my cousins is due with a little one (don’t know if it’s a girl or boy) in a month and I thought I’d knit them something. I think your Yoda-sweater will be just perfect!

Do you think a cotton sweater would be okey for a February-baby in a cold Sweden or should I go for a wool one?

  16. Thanks so much for the pattern! I have been debating what to knit for my cousin’s new baby. Do you think I could do this with DK weight yarn? Also, any opinion on how it would look with stripes or contrasting edging or something?

  18. Re: hot laptop: I was in Circuit City just now and happened to see a Targus “Notebook Chill Mat.” It’s a pad maybe 3/4 inch thick. You plug it in, put it on your lap or your desk, and its fans cool the computer. Cost is $31.99.
