As of five p.m. today…

…I will be done with work. Done with inhouse work permanently (that’s the plan, anyway) and done with freelance work (to be done from home) until six weeks after Thumper’s arrival (except for one little bit of a job still to be finished. Waiting on the files, which had better come soon).

Tomorrow I have nothing to do but get a nice prenatal massage.

(And work on book revisions, and pack the hospital bag, and assemble the nursery closet organizer thingies, and organize the nursery, and wash enough of the smallest-size clothes to get Thumper started…but let’s not talk about that. I’m basking in the glow of the false sense of having nothing to do.)

Let the nesting begin.

PS: Thumper received adorable booties from Carolyn, a photo of which will be posted soon. Probably tomorrow. Add that to the to-do list.

  1. Congratulations! Have fun creating your days!

  2. Six weeks isn’t very long, post-baby, before going back to work. It takes many babies six weeks just to figure out how to sleep at night. Is it possible for you to take a longer break?

  5. Enjoy the nesting, and even better, enjoy the prenatal massage!

  6. Enjoy your time off as much as you possibly can. Massage is a good way to start. I also recommend pedicures, going out to lunch, and lying around in lounge chairs while attractive men bring you sparkling water.

  7. I’d also recommend seeing any movie that remotely interests you, and going out to eat. Also, stock the fridge with all the stuff you most like to drink (for hydration, not a buzz) ’cause you’ll be thirsty! Now I’ll stop giving you all sorts of advice as you’re likely sick-to-the-gills of that already. Enjoy–can’t wait to meet Thumper!

  10. Yay! Enjoy your time! A lot of people say you’ll never have time like that to yourself again. But that’s not so true. It all goes by so fast..enjoy every minute and good luck!

  11. Yay! Good for you. I am so jealous. I’m sitting here with my bambino’s head very, very low and feeling all sorts of interesting twinges… but I’m still going to be working for a few more weeks! (At least, that’s the plan… haha) Enjoy the nesting time and Thumper preparations. xoxo

  12. Working or not, take to heart the phrase “fourth trimester.” It saves much woe.

feeling just a wee bit evil….

  22. This period of anticipation is so wonderful. We adopted, but the feeling is just the same (without the prenatal massage).

Enjoy the lead-up. And the quiet. 🙂

  23. Woohoo! The nesting is fun. It doesn’t feel like work. I even made curtains (I never sew).

Put your feet up and relax.
