It’s damn cold and snowy here today. That combined with food poisoning (the morning wasn’t pretty but I’m feeling better now, thanks, though rather tired) led to the declaration of an unexpected pajama day. I have no idea where the camera is, but picture me in sock monkey-themed flannel pajamas and Thumper in footie pajamas with dinosaurs on ’em and both of us crashed out in bed (with both dogs under the covers) and one of us napping (the one who isn’t typing) and you’ve got a decent idea of what today looks like around here.

Valentina and Squeeky paid us a visit yesterday and a lovely time was had by all. The kids played happily near each other, though not actually with each other at their ages, and Valentina and I caught up and ate cookies. Damn, I miss that girl. I’m still holding out hope that they’ll move back to NYC one day.

Thanks to everyone for the kind comments about the acorn hat. And extra special thanks to everyone who ordered it! If you’re on the fence about it, do bear in mind that it’s still baby-hat weather for quite some time to come and it’s a very quick knit. (Great for boys and girls! Superterrific shower gift! Does not imply that the baby is nuts! Okay. I’ll stop now.)

And while I’m here, may I present to you a little boy who refuses to wear his socks:

  1. Perhaps he’s holding out for handknit socks. Either way, he’s so cute who cares if he wears his socks!

  2. That’s good: it makes it much easier to munch on his feet. Gawd, he’s adorable. And speaking of adorable, can you stand how cute Squeeky is?! Every time she crinkled her nose and smiled, I swooned. I love the Acorn Hat pattern and can’t wait for my Knit Picks order to arrive so I can get cranking. Glad to hear you’re feeling better.

  3. A double bonus: a cute dog too.

  5. Sheesh – everday that I’m home is pajamma day. And since I’m a stay at home mom – well you can picture that. The other day I decided to surprise my husband by getting dressed like normal humans do. I don’t think he noticed so I’m going back to my pj’s. 🙂

  6. Ohhhh, food poisoning. I’ve only had it once, and that was quite enough, thankyouverymuch. I hope you are feeling much, much better by now. Love!

  7. Aww, what a sweet face. He looks like you too. Well, OK, I’ve only seen pictures of you on your blog and I don’t recall seeing pictures of Thumper’s papa but I think he looks like mama’s baby boy! He’s grown so big!!!

  9. SO cute. Wow, such eyes.

I wonder if Diego will ever guest-blog again. I’d love to hear his perspective on this radical turn of events.

  19. Eeeeewwww, hope you’re all better soon. Food poisoning is horrid. I love the expression on Thumper’s face – “Uh, remind me again just why I’m holding these things?” Too cute!

  20. That’s odd–mine will wear the commercial socks, but pulls off his koigu socks with impunity. I think the secret might lie in the elastic in the commercial socks…..helps hold them on. So my short person currently enjoys (?) footie outfits mretty much 24/7. Although he has some adorable things that I want to get photos of him in before he outgrows them (like the overalls and flanel shirt from grandma and grandpa).

  21. What a great pattern-little Phil doesn’t keep hats or socks on no matter how hard I try. This hat may be just what we need!

  22. I am a veterinarian, a blogger and an avid knitter. So, of course I was drawn to your blog. The photo of your two gorgeous poochies anjoying a romp in the stash was a perfect complement to the Debbie-Bliss-in-a-blender routine my little Frenchie put me through this week. (BTW, my two Frenchies are also rescues. In my own blog I espouse similar beliefs on pet shop babies.) Check it out and see what you think. http://www.dolittler.com.

  23. Amelie loves to take her socks off, too. And taste them. Blech. The Acorn Hat is supercute. How did you like knitting with Swish? I hear that it shrinks up… did you find that, too?

    Get better soon, dear.

  24. When I was a tiny baby – it was when we still lived in Brooklyn Heights, so I was under two – my mom put me up on the changing table and started to get me dressed.

(My mother likes to tell stories abut my babyhood. I’m pretty sure it was the last time I made any sense to her….)

Anyway, so I looked at her and said – we going out now, mama? – in my little baby voice.

Because clothes are for the OUTSIDE. Jammies are for the inside.

Which actually is still my philosophy.

  26. If I lived near you, I’d want to get our Italian Greyhounds together for a play date! Your dog is so cute!! I know that my Rocco would love to play with another funny looking guy! Do they ever get to run and play outside off of leash??
