The human body is so freakin cool. Yay science and biology. (And also yay you, because that seems like it was probably a little unpleasant at the time.) xo.

Thank you so much for sharing these photographs! I’m only six weeks away from my repeat C and it’s great to jog the memories of my daughter’s birth.

I hope you guys are doing great and having lots of fun! YAY!!!!!!!!

  6. Bonney says:

    Good Job!!

  7. Natalie says:

Hurrah! Yay for a healthy baby and mom! You are one brave woman! C-sections scare me and you actually have pictures of yourself. I’m impressed that your husband was collected enough to take those, but I’m glad he did. What a beautiful family!

  8. Rebecca says:

That is so incredible. I love this. Bravo!!!!

  9. Melissa says:

    Congratulations!

  10. Kathy says:

Wow. Just being willing to post pictures that personal is very gutsy! My husband was there watching both times, but there were no pictures. You rock, Cari.

  11. Jess H says:

That was me twice as well…. My husband has described it but I could never visualize it. I thank you for sharing. I cringe a little… but then I realize that it was the birth of my daughters. Birth. Weird and surgical, yes, but birth. Very important

  12. Katie says:

I know I have terrible PMS right now and everything, but I’m totally sitting here crying now. MAZEL TOV!

  13. Kristy says:

You are awesome. I had a c-section with my first baby & it is so much harder to recover from on every level. Take care of yourself! Your monkeys are beautiful!

  14. Dr Steph says:

Wow. It’s hard to believe that’s you with the hands in it. Thanks for sharing that.

You’ve got a beautiful family there.

  15. Tama says:

Wow. So awesome. What a beautiful group. 🙂

  16. joanna says:

holy shit! i can’t believe you posted these!! i’ve never seen anything like this. i was so completely out of it at my own csection, so it’s very interesting to see what it looked like – i think it probably took me the last 4 years to be ready to look at these. that is really cool for your daughter to be able to see this one day!

  17. Ruth says:

Very cool. I’ll never forget the first C-section I assisted at in training… after several months on a surgical rotation where only icky, diseased stuff came out of bodies – the visceral sense of amazement when out popped… A Baby! A whole other happy healthy person just hanging out… in there. (That aspect amazed me with my own two as well.)

  18. Christiane says:

Thanks for sharing that with us!
I love the huge grin on The Boy as he holds his new little sister.
Hope you and family are doing well. Can’t wait to see more pictures.

  19. Victoria says:

Wow! I had a c section too. It was a strange experience but it is amazing to see it happening like that! You all look so happy in the last picture. i hope you are recovering well.

  20. stefani says:

Wowie. I had a c-section and was pretty much out…definitely didn’t see a thing, and hubby was watching my face instead of my belly. This is crazy cool. Congratulations!!!

  21. Rae says:

Thank you for sharing the photos of your daughters birth with all of us. I am glad everyone is doing well

  22. Ilona says:

awwww that’s lovely…what a beautiful photo of the 3 of you.

  23. Mary K. in Rockport says:

Thanks for sharing those. We had one “regular” birth (hard) and one c-section. The section was easier from my point of view – since I was out of it – so I’m interested to see how it goes. Here’s to a speedy recovery.

  24. These are such interesting pics for me to see — totally different from my own birthing experiences (except that I had the IDENTICAL same pink hospital gown!). I love the one of your son holding his new sister, and you look like a radiant madonna (the holy kind, not the kind with cone-boobs) in that last picture with your children.

  25. Juliette says:

    mmmm.

  26. Juliette says:

not sure. but the baby is very good.

  27. Candice says:

Oh my gosh those pictures are scary, beautiful and amazing, in that order! And all so worth it! Congratulations on a beautiful family!

  28. Mary Q. says:

LOVED your pictures — they’re just beautiful! Thank you so much for sharing them. Hope you’re recovering well and that you’re all settling into a cozy routine. Huge congrats!

  29. cateinBC says:

Wonderful, wonderful pics. Mazel tov to all of you.

  30. Fiber Ninja says:

Great c-section pics!! I refused to sign the consent until they agreed to let the Daddy-Doc shoot pics and promise to stay out of the sterile field.

By the way, have you and Billy (or Thumper) given baby girl a nick name yet?

  31. Steph VW says:

Wonderful pics. I saw my friend’s c-section pics about 10 years ago and remember being so amazed by them. I love it! She’s beautiful! And her big brother looks so proud.

I was really out of it when the Mogrunt was born (exhausted, sleeping between contractions) and now I wish I had photos.

  32. Eve says:

you are a brave lady in so many ways.

  33. gleek says:

yikes! surgery pics!! without commenting on those because they make me woozy 🙂 we have the same boppy cover.
