Drive-by linking
No time for a real post, so here are a few links to blogs you should be reading that you might not know about yet:
Sutton, college friend o’mine. He and his wife just moved from Baltimore to Montana. Do read back into the archives aways for getting-ready-to-move hijinks and dispatches from Bird Camp
Lizbon, who I finally met in person last week after several months of talking about meeting in person. Her blog is one of my favorites.
Mother of Chaos, who I’ve never met in person. I adore her blog, though. You will too.
Okay. Back to the moving boxes. Cassie’s on her way over. If she doesn’t blog for the next few weeks it’s because I packed her in a box to bring her to Portland with us. I haven’t yet come to terms with the fact that I’m leaving my friends behind. And Cassie is small. She could live quite comfortably in a wardrobe box.
It’s bad enough that you’re leaving: you cannot take Cassie too. You’re right that she would fit into a wardrobe box rather nicely. What an odd observation. I have to get your cd to you soon! Sigh. hugs!

I am thinking all sorts of good thoughts for the move.

Well make sure to give her lots of bottled water. It’s hot here in the middle of the country!

i’m posting this a few days too late, but i’m pleased that you’re coming through austin (my town until the house is sold & we move to portland). someone already recommended Hill Country Weavers; it’s a great LYS, and i will miss it dearly.
my partner & i drove to new york from austin several years ago. the most difficult part of the journey was finding a decent place to buy food for the road. you’ll probably hear good things about the new Whole Foods (the ‘flagship’ store), but i have to show some love for my co-op, Wheatsville. at Whole Foods, you’ll have to fight your way through their poorly-designed bottleneck of a store, narrowly avoiding collision with every other shopper. it’s huge. it’s overwhelming. it sucks (though their bread is amazing). throw down with the WV, and you will not be sorry. friendly people, local produce, community feel. and the deli’s popcorn tofu? awesome.
i’m sure you’ll have plenty of people to see, and not enough time in which to see them, but you & billy & thumper are cordially invited to dinner @ our house. if you’ve got the time or the inclination, let me know. my partner & i are both unemployed while we wait for a buyer, so the house is clean & empty, and we have plenty of time to cook. i might even share my recipe for vegetable tagine with charmoula-baked tempeh.

Oh look–it’s Sutton!!!
Eris, I’m one of the people Cari must see in Austin, and I am down with WV and HCW. So even if she doesn’t get to see you, I can represent.

Can I just add that I’m looking for a winter marathon to enter and when I saw Austin on the marathon calendar for February, Hill Country Weavers was the first thing I thought of. Would I really do it for yarn? Miami is the other option. I doubt I’d get as much great yarn exposure… heh. Although you know, *I* am going to be in Portland next month so hopefully I’ll get to scope out YOUR new LYSs. Can’t wait.

Hello! I read your blog DAILY! When I saw that you have a friend who moved to Montana, I immediately clicked the link. You can tell Sutton that I had several occasions to chuckle over his first impressions of my hometown. Despite the smoke, he and his wife ought to head over to the farmer’s market(s) on Saturday before they are done for the year. He’ll appreciate the town even more!

7 days! And I’m not trying to stress you out, my closing day is the 23rd also.
So…7 days! gah!

Oh wow, these blogs are great! And thank you so much for including me in this list. Love Sutton’s pics of the demolition derby… Here’s hoping you have a MUCH easier time getting to Portland than they did getting to Montana. Oy.

Hey thanks for the link (always nice to get compliments from pros), but oh crap when are you leaving? Is it too late to recommend that you stop at the hostel in Truth or Consequences, New Mexico? You can get a private room, relax in the hot spring pools above the rushing Rio Bravo. It’ll be great. Trust me.
