Emergency baby knitting
It looks like my nephew-to-be may be making an earlier appearance than scheduled. He’s officially due at the end of May, but he’s been making moves to get out early. And just like his father, he seems to like to jump into new ventures with both feet. Yep. Breech, just to be difficult. He’s clearly one of ours. The longer he cooks, the better, so hopefully he won’t be arriving too soon. More news when I have it.
In the meantime, all previously scheduled activities have been tossed aside in light of the greatly accelerated deadline for a certain baby blanket I’d promised a certain sister-in-law.
Only a third of the way through it and I’m already bored to tears. (Actually that should be a quarter of the way through it, but I don’t have enough yarn to do the full 36 inches that I’d planned. I’m going to block the hell out of it and hope to get close to 36″ that way.) My sister-in-law specifically asked for a blanket, so a blanket she will have. The things we do for those we love…
Aww, now why couldn’t I have picked a baby blankie pattern that grew as quickly as yours does? And it’s lovely, to boot. Congrats on the newphew-to-be!

The blanket colors are very pretty!

I remember my nephew’s blanket … my sympathies. It’s lovely and you chose a more interesting pattern than I had. But those ends, lady, those ends …
Posted by: valentina
Here’s hoping those ends become fringe…
Fingers crossed that the little bun stays in the oven for the right amount of time. But the doctors know ways to keep’em in. Cheb tried to break out early *many* times (and in fact succeeded by 3 weeks), and was none the worse for wear. Can’t say the same for me.

Oh gosh, the baby knitting! Rumor has it that I may be needing to do even more of it, even as I have fallen behind on it already! I hate to say it but they are breeding like *bunnies* out there. Just give it a rest, people! We can only knit so fast!!
The blankie looks great!

Despite the fact that the name of my blog is Year of the Afghan, knitting blankets makes me want to claw my own skin off somewhere around the midway point. I want to be able to say that I knit or crochet one afghan for each of my kids, but the actual work is a BIG hurdle. However, I am sure that you are nothing like me :-).

Hope she can hold him in for a while! The blankie is adorable, but the boredom is understandable. Surely it won’t take too long if everything else is put to the side.

looks like some serious torturous knittin’ to me!

Torturous knitting indeed. But not so torturous as a breech preemie birth. I hope that baby stays in and does a flip so all is well (or better, anyway). Love that blankie.

I guess it must not be fun to create, but the blanket itself is really beautiful.

Well, I can’t imagine a worthier cause for an accelerated deadline. Hope all goes well, on your (knitting) end and the baby’s as well.

The blanket looks lovely, I hope the baby takes his time so that you can take yours.
Thanks for the nice comment on my sweater post.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Great blanket, but understand the boredom bit!! Hope bub behaves, turns around, and stays in till he’s due.

Here’s hoping the baby stays put for as long as possible! Just think of being Auntie Cari — that’ll motivate you to knit the blankie.

I love the blanket. The colors are beautiful and so is the pattern. Lucky baby!

The blanket is really nice, I love the colors, but I know how you feel, this is the reason I refuse to knit blankets, the boredom, oh the boredom.
LEt’s hope he stays in there long enough for you to finish it, both for your sake, but mostly his.

Is that mission falls wool or cotton? NICE colors. I know…blankets bore me to tears too. Think what an heirloom it’ll be though.

Lovely colors, not your standard pink and blue or yellow. For a sophisticated, totally-loved baby from the adoring aunt!

OH!! Please don’t be bored!!!!
When my brother was a baby someone gave him the EXACT same blanket in white, blue, and pink (my parents decided to wait until Ian was born to find out he was an Ian).
I have always loved that blanket. He has always loved it and kept in by his bed. He never used it as a blanket much (it hung on his bed after he outgrew it) but he says despite all the flack he gets about the pink in it, he will keep it forever and for his children.
That blanket, that pattern, is the exact pattern I want to knit when I one day get pregnant. It is so sentimental!
Just think, it might be borning now, but your nephew may love and cherish it as much as my brother does his.
