“Hide the fruit hats! Mom’s coming!”
While I was slaving away over a hot red pencil all weekend with my freelance work, Sadie and Diego took it upon themselves to knit some of the fruit hats I need to make for new babies. They do impressive work, considering the lack of opposable thumbs. I especially like the leafy tops.
If I’m generous with the biscuits, maybe the dogs will make me one too. These hats are for my friend Karla’s toddler, Milo, and Milo’s new baby brother, Cyrus. They’re based on Ann Norling’s pattern and were made using Mission Falls 1824 Wool.
Cute, AND talented dogs!! Do they have a blog too? he he he, I’ve just thought of the perfect pattern for them next. Do you think they’d be good with dpn’s?

See, I’d think the trick would be to teach Sadie and Diego how to edit, so YOU could do the knitting.
Beautiful hats.

Wow! Diego and Sadie can knit fruit hats! Why am I not completely surprised 🙂
The lazy dachshunds here better get busy with something . . .

I’m with Em- give the doggies the red pencil.

Hee! Those dogs are TOO CUTE. The hats are TOO CUTE. It’s a good thing the dogs aren’t wearing the hats… that might just be too much cute for a monday.

Let’s see. You edited ALL WEEKEND and, of course, didn’t knit at all. The dogs made them.
You are a great fiction-writer. I can tell.

Wow, you have some talented pups. Meanwhile, I slave away and knit and knit and does Ty lift a paw to help me? Not a one.

i agree with Em’s post–give the dogs the pencil so you can knit!
so i’m not the only one who, despite being 100 pages behind in my class, i knit all weekend! i don’t know how much longer using the post-election trauma as an excuse will go . . .
what is your default new baby knit gift? i have two babies arriving in feb and march that i want to knit for, but i’m not sure about a gift or what is appropriate. the only other baby gifts i’ve knit were a cardigan and hat, but i’d like to try something new.

Yep, Em totally called it. In the meantime, they did an excellent job on those yummy fruity fruit hats! Hey, you don’t need thumbs to throw metal!

Teach those dogs to knit socks! They will think they need to make them in 4’s! Great hats – what baby doesn’t look ADORABLE in hats like that!

Too Cute! I LOVE the leafy tops too!!! The stem is very believable too. I think that if you put some black dots on them, they could also be strawberries. I think i’ll have to copy you!

i’ve been trying to teach my dog to knit for the last year, and we’re making no progress. any tips? do sadie and diego also do dishes?

AMAZING ANIMALS! Great hats!

I didn’t know they stole yarn so they could do something with it!!! I wonder if this is how any other knitting bloggers manage to be so productive…

Adorable dogs! And great hats! The quality of your photos is amazing. The colors pop and the clarity is wonderful. Can I ask what brand and model camera you use? I am assuming it is digital. I’m really impressed with your photos, (and your knitting, and your puppies!)
