I’m home!

Back in Brooklyn, safe and sound. It’s so good to be home. Billy was still at work when I got in yesterday afternoon, but I was greeted at the door by the dogs. Sadie was very excited and had lots of kisses for me, but Diego alternated kissing me with sitting back and crying and howling… Clearly he wasn’t pleased about my going away for four weeks and had to let me have it. So Diego and I just sat on the couch and cried together for about five minutes while Sadie danced around and when it was over and done with we all felt a lot better.

Billy gets bonus points for cleaning the house before I arrived, and for leaving orchids and a love note. He had to treat patients so couldn’t meet me at the airport.

Oscar is as big as a barn. Photos soon. Tomorrow most likely. Maybe even tonight if I can get it together. I’m trying to do a gentle re-entry into the real world.

  4. Welcome home!!

I have to tell you – when you posted that Cari Camouflage picture, I liked it so much that I set it as the background on our family pc so the rest of the Shaffers could see it. My daughters, always having lived in central Texas therefore never having seen a Proper Autumn, asked if those were real leaves. 😉 It was great.

  7. I sympathize with you and Diego. The image of the two of you having a cry on the couch together resonated with me.

We moved during the summer and I had a strong attachment to the neighbours dog. I haven’t seen Monster since the move. I miss him and I wonder if he misses me. I think I’m scared to find out.

    Awhooooooooo…..

  12. Aw, what a touching welcome for you. When I get home it will have been a little more than four months since my cats have seen me, and I expect I’ll be shunned in anger for a day or two by one of them and the other will likely react just as Diego did.
