Just another Sunday in Brooklyn

sadiediegowindow.jpg

The dogs were surprised and disappointed to learn that:

A) The Superbowl is not, in fact, a large bowl of really super food
B) We don’t celebrate Superbowl in this family. That’s someone else’s religion, you see.

Alas, sweet Diego and Sadie, today is just Sunday in our house. Don’t get too caught up in what those TV commercials tell you. (And the dad guy wasn’t supposed to let you guys watch so much TV anyway.) And seeing as you are, in fact, Italian Greyhounds, and have been invited to live here, you really shouldn’t be all that surprised that this is not a football house. But I hear the family of the Golden Retreiver up the street throws a hell of a Superbowl party. Maybe when you’re older you can go.

And take heart. Rumor has it that the mom is probably going to make tostones later, and you know she’ll let you guys share one.

  2. Holy crap, that photo is frameable art. I LOVE it.

Just drove past the Northern Greyhound Adoption location yesterday (it’s in the backyard of my vet’s office) and saw some folks taking three LARGE Greyhounds for a walk, and of course you know who I thought of. …. mwah!

  3. Oh, those dogs are so beautiful. And I do NOT need more animals in this house.

Um, how are they with kids? And cats?

  4. Ah, how my life is improved by Tivo: I can record the Superbowl tonight, skip the game, and watch all the commercials.

And yes–the puppy bowl on animal planet is just adorable . . . who wouldn’t love watching puppies romp?

  12. I, too, am disappointed that the Super Bowl is not a bowl of super food. My ears, however, are not nearly as cute 🙂

  13. Of course Italian Greyhounds don’t watch football! They watch soccer. But they CALL it football. See, that’s why my little man Diego looks so perplexed.

  14. They brought a smile to my face and a chuckle to my lips! Thanks for sharing.

  15. Now that’s what we used to call bat ears in my house (while singing the Batman and Robin, theme, natch)! You have to be really, really careful if you say that around the dogs, though, so they don’t hear “bad ears” and fold their ears and skulk away. They are beautiful dogs.

  16. The only bowl we celebrated this Sunday was the Puppy Bowl on Animal Planet, it was too cute. Of course Abner was hoping that he’d get a super bowl of some yummy food like cheese.

  17. Maybe they thought it was real football? Soccer? Aw, nevermind, I’m reaching here.

  18. They are so amazingly angular. Really – the legs go this way, then they go that way for a while, then they go *this* way, then down *that* way. You could put your eye out on one of those dogs.

And they are beautiful, lest you think I think they’re not.

We watched the Puppy Bowl here. They even had a bowl cam under the water dish. And a kitten half-time show. 🙂

  20. Me loves the Iggies! I call for a picture at least once a month. More if possible. We will require the same of your niblet when he comes. Even if it is only a niblet foot or hand.

    I demand more cuteness! 😉

  31. ‘Twas brillig, and the slithy toves did gyre and gimble in the wabe.
All mimsy were the borogroves, and Diego’s ears caught the sunlight like two freakin’ cute stained-glass windows.
