Are you looking for in-depth feedback on an entire novel or novella manuscript outside of the workshop setting? I’m available for a limited number of manuscript consultations.
This entails a developmental edit to evaluate and engage with the load-bearing aspects of your project (voice, structure, plot, pacing, and character), followed by a Zoom meeting to discuss my feedback and work together to create a revision plan. My goal is to help you to clarify your vision for your book, supporting you to make it the strongest and truest version of itself possible. I aim to give you a clear view of what aspects of your project are working well and which still need attention, and to identify the places to focus your energies in revision. I’ll read your manuscript closely and provide in-line comments as well as a detailed editorial letter. After you’ve had a chance to read over my notes, we’ll schedule the Zoom meeting. Please note that this is an edit for content, not for grammar. I do not offer copyediting or proofreading services.
Though I do write and enjoy reading short fiction and creative nonfiction, I am currently only available to work on novels and novellas. Your manuscript should be complete—which is to say that it should have a beginning, a middle, and an end—before we begin working on it together. Can it be a hot mess? Full of holes? Absolutely! That’s what I’m here for. However, in order to be as useful to you as possible, I need to be able to read the narrative as a whole. If you aren’t there yet, and need support to reach that point, I’m also available for coaching.
I’m an award-winning novelist with an MFA from Brooklyn College. I have been teaching, leading fiction workshops, and working one-on-one with writers since 2013. No one can write a novel entirely alone. We all need readers. We all need feedback. I would be honored to fill that role for you.
My current rate is $4 per double-spaced page (12pt type), with a four-week turnaround from my receiving your manuscript to sending you my notes.
