Mini vacation
The reading and party were great. We packed the Barnes and Noble–it was standing room only by the time Ernesto began–and he read a gorgeous excerpt from the novel. After the reading we all headed back to our house for the party. About forty or fifty people showed, a good crowd for a Wednesday night. Just goes to show how much everyone loves Ernesto. It was a lot of fun. Most important, Birthday Boy Ernesto had a really good time.
Yesterday I turned in that awful pro-Bush manuscript and now I’m taking a few weeks off from editing work to really focus on the novel. And knitting. The goal is to have thirty new pages written by the end of April, to finish Kyoto (finally picked the trim back up again this morning and hopefully that’ll be an FO by tomorrow), and finish either Rogue or one of the Rosedales. Feel free to remind me of this in three weeks’ time.
That’s all from this end of the world. Tonight I’m going to the gallery opening for a friend’s photography show. It’s exciting to have so many people in my life starting to get public recognition for the art they’ve worked away on so diligently over the years. Encouraging too.
Have a beautiful weekend.
FORTY OR FIFTY? Now THAT’S what I call a party. And all literate, wonderful people like yourself, I imagine. Lovely. Was this your first real Party in the new house? It’s all just practice for the party when YOUR book launches…..

Ha! Rach kinda beat me to it, but I was going to tell you to take a moment to reflect on the fact that you live in a space that accommodates 40-50 people at once.
Good for you, taking some time off from editing to focus on what’s really important. And to have some serious decompressing time after that horrible manuscript experience.

You do more fabulous NYC stuff than I do… although I did see “Wicked” tonight. Fabulous costumes, and a few knitted hats.

Hey, that book’s on my list of must-reads.
Gee, I don’t think I can fit 4 or 5 people in my apartment.

Good for you taking some time for your real work. Bush manuscript. Bah.

Ok. You have inspired me. I’ll aim for 30 new pages by the end of April as well 🙂
