Mom on the loose!
I did something last night that I hadn’t done since Thumper was born. I went out without Billy and the kiddo purely for recreational purposes. I wasn’t going to a doctor appointment or going to write. Just going out to meet up with friends. Leaving the boys at home to fend for themselves.
And the house didn’t burn down and neither of them cried. Imagine.
I feel like I got a little bit of my life back last night.
Helen and I went to Twisted to meet up with Kaarin, Shannon, and Lorajean. Knitting was knitted. Yarn was fondled (and perhaps purchased). There was tea drunk (but no treats. Hey Twisted–why no cookies?). The first teensy glimmerings of the return of a social life?
Good for you! It’s good to reclaim those pieces of yourself.

Amazing what boys can manage when you leave them to fend for themselves. I’m still learning that trick, 20 years on.

Before this year is over, I shall harken my arse over to Twisted. (Is harken a verb?) It sounds lovely! I myself feel like I’ve had similar epiphany – with a new marriage and kids, I felt suddenly like I had to be there. It’s good for us moms to get out. YAY!

i love doing that. it was a happy day when i realized that the peanut would take a bottle and my husband could put her down. i still only make it out like every three months but it’s something!

YAY. Must be great to have the little bit of time out. I must do that soon too I think.

It’s about time!
It’s good for them too you know. Gives them time to bond in their own way. My husband always discovers new tricks to amuse the baby or get things done when I’m out. Things he probably wouldn’t be as free to experiment with if I was around ;o) – and everyone’s lived to tell about it so far, and in fact, it’s always ended up being a good thing for our family as a whole. We try to schedule one night a week for ourselves – individually, one as a couple sans babe, and one family night where no one works and we are all home together.
You need your own space, your own downtime too – to get a fresh perspective – I think it’s important to schedule it – otherwise it’s too easy to get lost in the shuffle.

Congrats on the night out! Definately try it again sometime soon.
So, any new stash additions???

It was much fun. I’m pretty excited about getting out myself. Even if it’s a thing when we can make it work, instead of weekly.

Congrats! It does feel good to get out on your own everyone once in awhile. I’ve only done it a couple of times and it’s been great!
Now we just have to work on doing it more often. 🙂

Good grief, girl! You need to get out by yourself more often, sweetie. It’s good to breathe a little and to let your little man see that mama has a life of her own, too. That’s my two little cents, anyway. 🙂 I’m glad you had fun!
