Our stuff is in a moving truck
Well…this is the last few hours in our house in Brooklyn. This evening we’ll head to my mom’s in Jersey, and it looks like we’ll be closing on Monday and then hitting the road.
Please think good closing thoughts, as I won’t truly relax until the business part of things is done.
And now to go dig up St Joseph….
Even though you are moving on to bigger and better things, I am sure your heart is a little nostalgic and heavy in your much-loved empty house. Good luck on your big move all the way across the country. I wish you a fun journey and a toddler who is good at travel!
Posted by: Jaimi
Sending more good thoughts! I remember when I closed on my house it was hard to believe it was real– even with the check in my hand 🙂
Posted by: Kristy
Oooh – best of luck on your new adventures. Yes, the leaving is bittersweet, but I heard a bit on NPR today about how Portland is so well-designed for cycling, and I thought of you with a wee bit of envy.
Moving is incredibly difficult, but also liberating. Enjoy the new chapter.

The hard part is DONE. But don’t dig up St. Joseph until you’re sure, sure, sure!

Wow. That is a momentous stage in the proceedings. Good luck good luck good luck. Don’t forget to breathe while waiting for the closing.
Posted by: Lizbon
I certainly hope it’s smooth sailing from now on out.

I hope it’s all just smooth sailing from here on out! Good luck!!!

Good luck with everything. Maybe you can blog from the road??? No pressure or anything.
😉

Best of luck to you! I’ll be thinking quick, easy, closing thoughts your way, as well as good long-trip-with-baby-and-dog thoughts. On the other side, there are a group of Portland knit-bloggers you might like to join at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/PDX-Knit-Bloggers/
It might be a good way to get acquainted with knitters in the area. The blog at http://blog.oregonlive.com/knitting/ includes tons of information about events for knitters in Portland, including a lot of the local knitting groups. I’ll be looking forward to hearing about your adventures in Portland once you get settled enough for blogging.

Gosh, I remember moving only 300 miles with a toddler and how rough it was. You’re brave but it will be fun, good luck…ciao

You know, the more I thought about it, the more I felt that saying goodbye in a Brooklyn subway station was actually perfectly appropriate. Call me if you need anything before Tuesday, ok? I’m here.
Posted by: Cassie
Good thoughts, all yours.
Posted by: Rachel H
Good Luck, can’t wait to see you on the other side!
Posted by: Bertha
Wishing you a smooth transition and even smoother transactions! (I hate the business part of buying/selling … I’m always on pins and needles until it’s over.)
See you on the flip side …
Posted by: Ruth
Sending happy closing-vibes your way! Good luck with the road trip!
Posted by: Sharon
Massive amounts of good thoughts coming your way!
Posted by: Kim
Have a safe drive!!! Best wishes.

I’ll be thinking of you and your little family on the road, and I’ll be hoping that Thumper is a good traveler.

it’s gorgeous here, right now.
oh, and we put an offer in on a different (BETTER) house today. keep those fingers crossed! 🙂

Did you decide to come through Salt Lake then?

Congratulations! I’m excited to hear about the discoveries you make in Portland.

good luck lady, thinkin of you.

Can you wait to dig up St J until closing ?
Sending good thoughts your way. Have a safe and smooth trip to your new home.
Looking forward to seeing the pictures of your new adventure!
Posted by: Ella
onward and upward!
the best thing for you, the sellers, at the closing, is all you’ll have to do is sit back and collect the checks;o)
and you don’t even have to dress up – ;oD
Posted by: Margaret
Good closing thoughts, check.
Safe traveling vibes, check.
Traveling being easy on Thumper, check. (Especially since I know about road trips from the toddler’s side. I grew up in a family that drove all over hell’s half acre during vacations. I’ve been in every Western state this side of the Rockies except New Mexico, and we also hit lower Alberta and BC. From my depths of experience, I say don’t forget something for motion sickness, just in case!)
Enjoying wonderful scenery, check.
Happy arrival in Portland, check!
And on Sept. 22-23, there’s the Oregon Flock & Fiber Festival happening in Canby, just south of Portland, only about half an hour’s drive… Sounds like several of us PDX Knit Bloggers are going, you should too! 😉

I hope your cross-country trip is full of wondrous roadside attractions, charming LYS’s, and plenty of time to contemplate the end of an era and the next adventure. Don’t forget your AAA membership…and bagels!

Safest of journeys and best of luck! You’ll be back for Rhinebeck, yes?
Posted by: mindy
Good karma coming your way…
Posted by: Amy
Yay! It’s both scary and exciting about finalizing your move. But soon you’ll be here in Oregon. 🙂
Plus you’ll see so many beautiful things along the way – in Texas and Utah especially. Hopefully some of the rain will slow down so you can enjoy!

Good luck on your trip west. Hope to see you soon.

Safe travels to you all! I already miss you! I look forward to seeing pics of your travels. Much love to you all.

I can’t believe your moving day practically here! Best wishes for a wonderful journey to your new home.

Good luck, Cari. It is a big transition, but once you are on the road, you and Billy will have a big sigh of relief. Off to a new start, a fresh one at that, and you are coming to friendly Portland. I can’t wait to meet up with you at Mabel’s–I’ll watch the baby so you can enjoy a wonderful cup of Stumptown coffee without interruption!
I am taking my daughter back to school in Massachusetts in her VW Bug–we are in Butte, Montana tonight. I’ll wave at you as we pass going opposite directions at some point! Ha! 😀

Cari, have a safe trip and don’t try to do too much too quickly. Enjoy the time that you have to drive across country and enjoy the diversity that is our country. There is so much to see and do out here that you could spend your lifetime and not see it all, but you don’t have that much time, so see what’s on your route and don’t get stressed by the little things. Again, if you need anything, email me and I will try to answer your questions. or if you need a cell #, email me and I will send it to you.
