Socks Socks Socks
This is a great book. A really great book. I love it. And somehow I’ve managed to own two copies. One more than any knitter needs, certainly.
Anyone interested in swapping a brand new copy of Socks Socks Socks for…say…some sock yarn? I’d also be interested in swapping this book for a copy of Folk Mittens or Folk Socks.
LATER: A deal has been struck. Jaime made an offer of Opal Tiger. No way I could refuse the Opal Tiger. See, Fabulous Knitting Cousin Sarah knit a pair of socks for Thumper from that yarn, so I bought a skein of it to make a matching pair for Billy. Father and son socks, you know. With this swap skein from Jaime, I’ll be able to make a pair for myself too, as well as have enough leftover yarn to keep the growing baby feet in the family sock for at least a little while. (Frog the toes and add length as his feet grow? Just keep knitting him new ones in increasing size? We’ll see what his feet will let me get away with.)
Aww….family socks. It’s almost too cute to bear, isn’t it?
I love Socks Socks Socks, even though the cover model is SCARY! I’ve knit many a sock from that book!

I’d love to swap some sock yarn for the book, if you still have it. I have tons of sock yarn to choose from.

I too am interested in a swap. What kind of sock yarn are you looking for? It seems to me you have almost every kind out there. Anything Canadian you’d like? 🙂

Damn. I’m too late. Somehow I still don’t have this one. If you go with the Canadian, ask for some Shelridge Farm yarn. It’s delicious.

Maybe I should swap you some sock yarn for some sock advice. Hmmmm. I’ve now made four pair, but the picked-up stitches along the heel flap still look wrong to me. I’m a wee bit frustrated, but I’m hoping it gets better. Heaven knows I have enough yarn to keep me practicing.
I hope all is well for you and yours on this soggy weekend. xo!

Looks like you’ve made a swap. I was just going to add that I think this book is fantastic too, especially the lace designs.

I have that book and love it too. I made a red licorice thong (free pattern from somewhere in cyber-space) for a friend’s raunchy bridal shower (her husband nearly peed his pants laughing) so I’ve been threatening her with a pair of the licorice socks for their anniversary. Thumper can probably get away with heel-less ribbed tube socks for the first year or so that can go from knee socks or fold-over tops to gradually shorter lengths as his feet grow. The ribbing should accomodate foot growth and also help keep them on thumping, wiggly feet. My 3rd (she’s 21 now) had a great pair of socks when she was about 5-11mths. They were over the knee socks with padded knees for crawlers. Haven’t seen them since, but they got lots of rave reviews.

Awwww! Yes, it’s definitely too cute to bear, but I know you’ll do it anyway. 😉 p.s. Could you send me your address again? I hope to have some thing ready fairly soon for Thumper, but I can’t find your mailing address anywhere…

I keep seeing that book and thinking about getting it, but being put off by the cover. Having heard all the great things everybody’s said, I think I’ll go ahead and get it next time I see it.
And, there’s nothing wrong with matching socks. Chances are (at least) two of you will have shoes on if you go somewhere besides your house. 😉
