The most stylish of sock models

Meet Big Doll. My mother made her for me when I was a baby. I named her all by myself. 😉 Little did my mother know how much I would grow up to look like Big Doll, yarn hair and all!

Big Doll is proudly modeling, for your blog-reading pleasure, the recently (five minutes ago) completed socks for my mom, in Lorna’s Laces Flames colorway.

  1. I can’t imagine how you came up with the name Big Doll. This doll scares me a little bit, actually, but she is an excellent sock (and capelet) model.

  3. You’ve just inspired me to dress Nidia Shana (my cabbage patch doll I got when I was 5) in the toxic jobby socks, when I get my camera.

  4. I love Big Doll. Love her. You have the best sock models (I’m including Skelly).

And the socks? That is one lucky Cari’s Mom.

  5. Hi Cari!
I discovered your blog a few days ago and have now read the archives… Needless to say, I’ve enjoyed them immensely, both the knitting updates and the wonderful colorful pictures of both stash and newly painted walls — not to mention the glimpse into the writing life which you offer. Just wanted to say hello and to thank you for writing. You might know this feeling: you read someone’s weblog and end up feeling like you kind of know them by the end.
    Looking forward to reading more!

  6. I love Big Doll – she cracked me up when I saw her sitting there in the chair. Makes me want to sit on the arm of the chair and have a chat with her.

I, too, named my dolls and one of them is named “Big Baby.” I wonder if she is the little sister to Big Doll? I named her Big Baby cuz she was so big – Dear Mom liked big dolls and I liked little dolls. Big Baby sits on a stool at the end of my baby. Maybe Big Doll will have a sleepover with Big Baby, Huncher, Boy and whoever else I have hanging around the house. What fun!

Thanks for sharing this with the world.
