WJIP (Wedding jewelry in progress)
I had expected to have my wedding jewelry made by now, but I’m still just futzing around with the possibilities. Here’s the result of playing around with knitting wire and beads for a potential wristlet. When finished it will fit snugly.
Now that I’ve decided I like this look, I have to choose my bead colors and get going… Time’s running out! (Yikes!) The plan is to make two knitted wire and bead wristlets and a matching necklace (a wide collar with shoots and runners coming off it) all using satin ribbon as a closure, laced corset-style. I’m a bit afraid I’ve left it too much to the last minute, but we’ll see. I work well under pressure (because I often leave myself no choice but to do so!).
Wish me luck.
You’re going to be the most creatively inspired bride in the hemisphere! I can’t wait to see. (But don’t kill yourself doing it all!)

I love the bracelet! I made several napkin rings that were very similar last summer and while I was making them, I kept thinking how great of bracelets they would make, if only I could think of a good closure. Well, also if I could keep the cast on and bind off points from impaling my wrist. Can’t wait to see your finished product. And then steal your closure idea of course.:)

The wristlet looks wonderful. I think it’s so great that you are making your jewelry yourself–it’s just so much more personal that way, and you end up with something unique that no one else has. I have to say, usually when I see knitted jewelry I don’t care for it very much–I think crochet tends to work a lot better when you’re working with beaded wire. But I love what you’ve come up with here. Great work. And good luck with the deadline!

Wow, I love the jewelry and I’m not so big on jewelry. I can’t wait to see the finished product–colors and lacing. The lacing sounds quite interesting. How did you learn to knit with wire?–perhaps an obvious question. My plan is always to read 4 books, scour the internet and then, and only then, actually try something. I’m always great with the theoretical. Your practical application of your knowledge however, is quite wonderful!

It looks fantastic! Sigh…another crafty thing that I need to try as soon as possible. How long did it take to do the trial piece?
And hey, how’s the deck doing??

And she beads, too! Good golly Ms. Cari, I love that bracelet. It’s beautiful. When I got married I hired someone to make a wire beaded headpiece (tiara style) for me, and to this day I wish I could make things like that. I can’t wait to see your wedding jewelry ensemble. Enjoy it while you do it!!!
