Workshops, manuscript consultations, coaching, and the angst of promotional emails in politically fucked-up times
I sent the following email to my teaching, consulting, and coaching mailing list this morning. I suspect that it might interest a number of you, as well, so am sharing it here. If you are on that list and also subscribe here and so are seeing this twice, 1) I adore you and 2) my apologies for the repetition.

Hey folks,
I’ve struggled to write this email to you in the midst of all of the horrors and anger and uncertainty here in the US and globally. Everything is in flux, and I’m going to send an email about fiction workshops and manuscript consultations?
Well, yes. Yes, I am. What I keep coming back to is that our art still matters, maybe now more than ever. We need to write to ask difficult questions, to challenge ourselves, and/or to escape into a different life and a different world. We need to read for those same reasons. And we need to come together in groups (albeit over Zoom) to be in community with fellow writers, and to work on our craft together, and to insist on the importance of art in our lives and in the world. And so, in that spirit, I offer you this announcement about my fall novel workshops, as well as coaching and manuscript-consultation availability this summer and beyond.
My Whole Novel Workshop will return in September. Do you want to workshop your entire manuscript (up to 400 pages) in a small, dedicated group? If so, this one’s for you. The application window is now open.
Registration is also open for the 9-Month Novel Intensive that I teach for Literary Arts. All levels and all fiction genres are welcome, as long as you intend to workshop a novel or novella. (If you’re working on a story collection, this isn’t the class for you.) You can come with just the idea of a novel (or not even that) or with a project well under way. There are two sections offered, to accommodate demand. Here is the link to the Wednesday evening class, and here is the link for the Thursday evening class.
Looking to work with me one-on-one? I have room in my schedule to take on one more manuscript consultation this month, as well as two spots in July and two in September. I’m also available for a few new coaching clients, for one or two meetings or on an ongoing basis.
I hope that you’re doing well, in spite of it all. I hope, dare I say, that you’re thriving. And if you’re not, come sit by me.
Yours, with hope and solidarity,
Cari
