While the baby (finally) naps…
Ah, beloved Anemoi Mittens. I’m forty rows into the first mitten. (Color is truest in the pic where it’s on my hand.) If I had more knitting time, these would be a very quick project. Still madly in love with this pattern. I can’t wait to wear these mittens. If it ever gets cold, that is.
My mom comes on Fridays to hang out with Thumper while I get some work done–either writing or editing, depending on whether or not I’m on deadline. I am, in fact, on deadline right now, but Thumper was not impressed by that. We’re having one of those “Only my mommy, no matter how much I love gramma” days compounded by a “late-morning naps are for the birds” days. He’s finally down now, so a bit of much needed knitting and a wee bit of blogging…
And now, back to the knitting while I can steal the time. Have a good weekend.
PS: See that edge of a co-sleeper in the first pic? He hasn’t slept in it since he was a week old, as he prefers to be in bed with us. But it doesn’t go unused. It’s full of baby toys and books and knitting, and it’s where my computer lives when not in use. Which makes me wonder why all beds don’t come with sidecars. Damn handy.

Just bought that mitten pattern yesterday, and am interested to see how it works up in a different color. In the original, they reminded me of steam curling up from a cup of hot chocolate. We can still appreciate hot chocolate, can’t we, even though the temperature is 64 today in Rockport?

My bed needs a sidecar. My knitting, books, Nalgeen bottles, etc. end up on the floor in between the bed and the wall. My hubby calls it my “nest”. I think a sidecar would be better.

Sidecar! Why didn’t I think of that? Our crib never got used, nor the bassinet, nor the playpen. Babies in the bed (and youngest still is). Just easier that way. No stumbling around a dark house for late night feeds. I, too, have a “nest” between bed and wall. Normally stuff piles up next to me on the bed until someone shoves it off the edge. A sidecar would be perfect.

My son was two before I took the sidecar down, it was better than any night table I have ever seen! I don’t think he spent more than a few hours in it. He is my third and there is not a crib sleeper in the lot.

I love the colors you chose on the mittens! Also, we are also co-sleepers and our daughter is nearly 7. Just this week she announced that she is ready to sleep by herself for “most of the night” which means she comes in in the wee hours of the morning. I will admit that I love sleeping with the whole family–makes me feel cozy and happy and safe. I never thought of the sidecar idea, though. Makes more sense than the pile of crap on the floor next to the bed :).
