Damn…has it been four days since my last post already?<\/p>\n
I’m tired. Tired tired tired. I had a nasty cold last week, and it’s still hanging around in my lungs and dragging me down.<\/p>\n
It’s tempting to search around for a meme to entertain you, but I’m feeling too tired and lazy to even do that. The kid’s napping, and I’m crashed out on the couch. Ostensibly poking at the novel, but my brain’s not really charged enough for that today. So here I am, blogging about nothing.<\/p>\n
So…uh…hi. How are you?<\/p>\n
Things are pretty good here, apart from the general post-viral fatigue and a creeping weltschmerz. I rode my bike alone at night for the first time last night and didn’t die (and even had a good time), so that’s good news. It means I get to stay in Portland. My cycling nervousness was putting my Utopian green card at risk, you know. I rode to a bar, of all places. Which is kind of thin incentive since I don’t drink. But apparently the promise of an evening out with other moms, sans kids, was enough to get me on the bike after sunset. We had a great time. And, it bears repeating, I didn’t die. I had good lights on the bike, front and rear. I didn’t get run over. I didn’t get doored. I didn’t hit any potholes. Good, good, good.<\/p>\n
Also, I owe you a garden post, but today is not the day for that. I thought the garden had failed me, but it turns out I just failed to plan. Either that or everything is running incredibly late in my garden this year. Because after two months of not much of anything but green beans and one yellow squash a week, suddenly the winter squashes are setting fruit, the yellow squash is churning out five squashes at a time, the tomatoes are starting to ripen, and the okra–which I knew all along wasn’t really suited to our climate but I LOVE pickled okra and so gave it a shot anyway–is setting fruit. AND we even have one watermelon the size of a robin’s egg. Which probably won’t mature before it gets too cold, but hey…it’s fucking adorable. Yes, I need to take photos. Tomorrow? Tomorrow.<\/p>\n
If you’ve read this whole ramble, you either like me far more than I deserve, or you were very patiently holding out for something interesting. Which I do not have for you today, and I am deeply, deeply sorry.<\/p>\n
