Yawn

Up way too early on a Saturday to walk the dogs. It’s usually Billy’s shift, but he had to get out of here really early for a class he’s taking this weekend. For some reason I sat down and started reading blogs when the dogs and I got back from the walk, rather than just crawl directly back to bed. Which I will do in a moment. Yawn.

I stood in line outside a club last night for a half hour, waiting for the doors to open for a friend’s book release party. I hate doing that. It’s a ridiculous waste of time. I was there to see my friend Nick off. He’s leaving on tour this morning. So the doors open and they announce that the owner has done away with the guest list and it’ll be a $20 cover for everyone. Yeah, there was going to be a band or two and all, in fact one of my favorites, but would you pay twenty bucks to hug a friend who you can usually hug for free? It was a book release party, for crying out loud. Usually you can’t pay people to go to those things. Seems either the owner decided to take advantage of Nick’s growing rock star celebrity, or word got out about who the secret musical guest was. But I didn’t tell, I swear. And to just do away with the guest list? Grumble grumble. I know, this should be my biggest problem, right? Nick was somewhere inside, I guess. I waved to the door and my plus one and I went to get a nice cup of tea instead.

Oh…and I finished the capelet. Actually I finished it Wednesday night but I haven’t had time to block it yet. I’ll probably do that today, and hopefully post a picture tomorrow.

  1. That’s when you know you’re growing up. Your friend goes a booksigning/rock star thingie, leaves instead for a cup of tea, and you think, “Oh, that sounds nice.” And you’re thinking about the tea.

    happy weekend to you!

  2. All my life I have been searching for people who would, as I would, say “screw it, I’m not playing by those rules,” when others might give in and try to convince me to stick to the original plan. People who, in other words, act on principle. Validation once again. Bless you.

You got up, walked the dogs, and blogged before I woke up this morning! Wow.

  3. $20?! That’s lame, especially after making people wait in line thinking there’s no cover. Good choice to wave to the door, girlfriend. 🙂
