All hail Diego’s healthy liver!
Diego’s bloodwork came back completely normal (for the first time in a long time, actually). So the bleeding seems to have been a broken-off rotten tooth or something of the sort. He’ll have to go back in for another dental cleaning in August or thereabouts. HUGE relief that our little guy is okay. He’s feeling fine and back to his usual excited, nervous, smiling self. Thanks to all for the good wishes. Diego adores each and every one of you and wants to sit on your lap and push his nose against your knitting until the stitches fly off the needle. The dog seems to believe that his love can be measured in dropped stitches.
On another note… anyone have an oddball of Noro Silk Garden #84 that you’d want to swap for some oddball(s) I’ve still got around here? The yarn I set aside for Gloria has been calling to me, and this morning I dug into the bag and finally thought to check yarn requirements. I’m using the Silk Garden left over from my Clapotis, and I have three balls of it. I need four to make the medium size. Yes, this should have occured to me about a year ago when I set the yarn aside, but it didn’t. Thought it was worth asking after any lonely leftover balls of the stuff that might be out there before I set out to buy a new one. I’ll poke around and see what tempty oddballs I might have to offer.
On still yet another note…we have officially entered the third trimester, Thumper and I. Today I go for the glucose tolerance test. Fun fun.

Yay for Diego! Yay for Thumper! Yay for good sugar!

Hurrah for Diego! Celebrate by buying more yarn. 😉

I’d gladly suffer dropped stitches for Diego. I’m so happy to hear he is fine.
Third trimester already?! Where’d the time go?
Is it standard to give the glucose tolerance test? I had a couple with both of my pregnancies, but I always thought it was because my tummy was measuring on the large size. (Which was easily explained once my boys were born: the first was 9 1/2lbs and the second was 10lbs.)

So glad Diego is OK!

Happy news for Diego, hooray! Sorry I can’t help with the yarn, though. And good luck to you and Thumper with todays, err, festivities.

Excellent news for Diego!!! Congrats to you too! Good news all around this morning.

Woo hoo!!!! Yay for healthy Diego, and yay for you and Thumper. 😀 I can’t believe how fast your pregnancy has flown by (easy for me to say, since I never had to deal with the morning sickness or the cravings). Anyway, I guess that means I should really get knitting on that giftie I had planned to send yout…

Yay for Diego! What a relief – no puppy worries. The glucose test isn’t as bad as it used to be – let’s hope for good sugar levels. 🙂
Posted by: Laura
Yay! I mean, bad teeth are no fun, but MUCH better than a bad liver! Good for Diego. And, good luck to you and Thumper, too!
Posted by: –Deb
Yea for Diego! Glad to hear the ENTIRE family is doing well!
Posted by: Shelley
Hurray for Diego, Thumper and you! I am so glad that Diego’s liver is okay.
My dh brushes Napoleon’s teeth everynight so hopefully we can avoid the rotten tooth thing. Scary!

Congrats on navigating sick dogs and third trimesters. I read your post yesterday and patted my two pups, thanking them for holding together. They are a comfort in all the changes that come, a great source of love when things get tough. So here’s a hug for Diego. He appears to share certain habits with Peterchen, the Dachshund at the Center of the Universe. Knitting is for moving out of the way to get into the lap. 🙂

Oh – and good luck on the Orange Crush Ick Test. Yum. It really doesn’t taste anything like orange, in my opinion! I did mine 2 weeks ago and I’m assuming no news is good news. Hope yours also comes back clean.

yay for healthy livers and sweet doggies.

Yay for Diego’s liver!
Ick for glucose testing! That orange drink is nasty. 🙁

I am so glad that Diego is alright. I use this amazing natural tooth gel on my furry children, and it works great, even on my elderly incredibly-bad-toothed doxie. Here’s the link if you’d like to get the info: http://www.petzlife.com
Sounds to good to be true, but has saved our little guy from loosing more teeth. And congrats on the 3rd trimester, I know you and Thumper will be an amazing pair!
Posted by: Nicole
I have several balls of #84, too. Just email if you want to claim one or all.

Happy third trimester! It’s the home stretch, baby.

3rd trimester, wow! I bet there’s a lot of wiggling around going on in there! Glad Diego is ok – that would have scared the heck out of me. I’d love to have him on my lap, even though he’s all knees and elbows. This very minute, I am typing through a cat’s tail.

I am SO glad Diego is doing well. I couldn’t comment on your post about him, because liver failure is what my sweet little poodle Bunny passed away with in January following dental surgery. With his liver being healthy, he should sail through the procedure with no problems.
Happy third trimester! I also have some spare Silk Garden #84 if you need it.

Third trimester! How exciting! And I’m happy Diego is well. Having a sick puppy (or pet of any kind) is so sad!! Hurray for good news!
Posted by: Pea
Good News about Diego! I’m sending him mental doggie treats!
And its the third trimester already! Time is flying by!
Posted by: Rebecca
thank goodness Diego is ok! the glucose tolerance test is kinda gross, but like all other pregnancy-related unpleasantness, you’ll get through it. I’ll be sending good thoughts your way! xxx

Whew! What a relief! Take care, Diego!

Phew. I’m glad those years of carousing haven’t hurt Diego’s liver!
Really though, I’m so glad he’s ok. When your dog is sick it’s a scary thing. Please give Diego lots of kisses from me.
And yay to trimester #3. That’s wonderful!!!!!

Can’t believe you’re already so far along! Do we get any more belly shots? Pictures that is hehe.
SOO glad Diego’s ok!

wow a blog that uses Noro and rotten tooth and liver and glucose all in one post! That’s got to be a first, only and never again. Hope all continue to heal.

Hooray for everyone healthy at Cari’s house! Long may it be so.

I’m sure you are so relieved! Wags and nose snuffles from Luca and Henry.

The glucose testing was oh-so-much fun! I think it was actually worse than when I did it with Dante and the choices were orange and grape. And I’d just like to share my pain with you that I’m now as big and weigh as much as I did with my first child and I still have 9 weeks to go! Oh the joys of pregnancy! At least at the end of it all you have a cute little person to knit for who can’t refuse to wear what you make them…
Posted by: Cambria W
I had that test with my 3 pregnancies. It always tasted like orange soda to me and since I didn’t drink soda during pregnancy I thought it wasn’t so bad – considering. Glad Diego is doing better.

There is one good thing about being behind in blog reading. You get to read the bad news and then the good news without having to wait for it. I’m so glad everything is ok with Diego!

I have a ball of #84 🙂
I am so glad to hear your tuff-pup is okay. Whew.

Great news about Diego. And I can’t believe you’re entering your third trimester already. Where does the time go? (crap, I sound old now).

I hoep you didn’t eat eny cookies yesterday and today!!! I gorged on donuts and had to take the 3 hour test after failing the one hour test. Gah!

I knit Gloria. The armholes were too deep for me and the sweater was too big that I had to do quite a few modifications. I wrote about them on my blog. Glad to hear Diego is well. It is no fun to have a sick dog.
Posted by: corgimom
So glad to hear that Diego is okay. xoxoxo. Welcome to the third trimester! Yay! Aren’t we having fun? 🙂 I passed my GTT about a week ago; crossing fingers that you’ll pass yours, too.
Posted by: Karma
Glad Diego is well! And hope you find the glucose tolerable.

Yay for Diego!! So glad to hear he’s all right. 🙂

Yay Diego and Boo glusocse test. I failed my first one and had to take the nasty three-hour test which, thank goodness, came back clean and dandy. Good luck!

Very happy for Diego! 🙂

Let me add my congratulations and my “whew” to the collective. I send Diego virtual ear scratches (or whatever he’d prefer!).
Also adding to the throng: I have a couple extra #84 as well. Maybe you can choose among dye lots now! (I don’t know mine off the toppa my head — email me if you’re curious and I’ll check.)
(Much love from a lurker! I hope to comment more now!)

Yay for you and The Thumpster!

I can’t explain how nice it is to come home and read good news after a day scattered with not-so-great news and patient experiences. I’m glad Diego’s liver is okay and that it was just a tooth – and I’ll raise my glass and take a giant swig of water in honor of your third trimester. (I hope the diabetes test is behind you and all is well with blood sugar levels…) It feels to me like time is flying and as though the little one will be here soon…but that could be that I’m simply watching the process!
(I’ve been doing newborn exams; they are blissfully tiny. I saw a little one who was a month old today and couldn’t believe how big she was compared to those just a day or two old. Babies really are great ways to start people.)

I found your blog via anothers and felt instant empathy. I’ve got two dogs,(Dazzle and Raz) rescued as well (all of my animals are and a good thing my dad’s a vet) my dog is very sick as well so it’s always heartening to hear about the recovery of others. good luck

So glad you provide the good news ahead of the bad, – I had to catch up on several previous posts – sounds like you handled it all so well that you REALLY deserved that mitt kit!! Molly, Sadie, & Lucy send Diego big wet puppy kisses!
Haven’t visited in a while so I’m shocked you’re in the 3rd trimester (of course, you’re not shocked!) Thumper will just love all the knitties you make!

I’m so glad your Diego is healthy! I recently discovered your blog and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed it. By thy way, well done with Oscar! I, too, have a cat who was once a sad, sick, little foundling. Now he’s a big, glossy, spoiled cat, but he’s healthy, and such a lover I wouldn’t trade him for anything.
Congrats, too, on Thumper! Exciting stuff!

Can’t help you with the yarn. So happy that Diego is fine. As to the glucose tolerance test, let’s just say I think it’s a farce and shouldn’t be a requirement for all pregnant women. {stepping off soapbox}. Congrats on the third trimester, so exciting.
