I’m starting to feel better. Smiling more often than not. Not so much with the crying anymore. It’ll be two weeks this Thursday since the miscarriage. Time’s moving on, fast as usual.
I’ve got this terrific kid already who needs me to be present for him, and that’s helping. We’ve been very busy around here:
Rollerskates and kneepads were found and purchased at Goodwill.
He was so pleased he insisted on wearing them home in the stroller. No action shots because I have to hold both of his hands while he “skates.”
There’s been some hiking as well. We tried to hike to Trillium Lake, but the trails were still covered in snow–like two feet of the stuff, if you can believe that–so it wasn’t kid-friendly. The kiddo was pretty damn happy just to get a chance to play in the snow in his shorts, though, and it was a beautiful drive up there. Here are my guys with Mt. Hood in the distance:
And this is how most of our time has been spent. Someone’s REALLY into his big boy bike right now.
I hope your summer’s off to a good start. We’re getting ours back on track around here. I’m pretty determined to make it a good one.
I’m impressed how brave and strong you sound right now. I’m hoping for a happy and interesting summer for you, in spite of all that you’ve been through recently.
I’ve been thinking about you Cari. It’s good to hear and see that life does go on. Thumper is getting so big!
Those are some very slick skates!! Glad to hear you’re feeling better; happy spring!!
Lovely photos! You really do live in Utopia.
Wow, look how grown up he is.
I hope for you a great summer full of fun and good photos. Makes for great blog reading. 😉
I don’t have words to tell you how sorry I am for your loss.
Looks like Thumper is having a great time.
He is getting soooooo big! Here’s hoping your summer is a wonderful one.
I am so sorry for your loss.
And I wish for you a wonderful summer (in, yes, what looks like paradise!)
Cute Cute skates. My 10 y.o. nephew found the proper size for me at the local swap table. I can, uhm, hardly wait.
Oh, bless, these photos just make me smile.

OT: She(Isa Chandra Moskovitz -the head vegan) did the same thing you did – move to Portland, Oregon from Brooklyn – also like your neighbor with the pitbull. Apparently to move to Portland Oregon, you need 1) a truck and 2) a man
A long-time reader, I’m coming out of lurk-mode to tell you that I am absolutely in awe of the brave way you are choosing to live your life right now.
