1. Sock Summit: didn’t get there, even though I could have walked there (a long walk, but not an unreasonable one) from my house. I was way too tired after a month of relentless freelance and too little sleep and just needed to take it easy with Billy and the kids. I did get to pass David in the hall a few times, though, since he and his girlfriend stayed with us, and that was great.

2. Couch to 5K is still going well. I finished Week 7, Day 1 today. It’s all straight-through runs now. No more walking segments. Billy and I are signed up to do a 5K run together on our anniversary in September! What better way to celebrate seven years of marriage?

3. I’ve started washing my face with honey. It’s Heidi’s fault. So far, my skin loves it. I had been using Dr Hauschka for years, and was happy with the results but not so much with the price tag. Luckily, organic raw honey is pretty cheap here, so if I’m getting good results with a product that’s even more natural than Dr Hauschka AND way cheaper? Well, yeah. It’s worth keeping a jar of honey in the shower.

4. I picked up a couple of running skirts at Goodwill, the kind with the teensy shorts attached. They’re great for running in the heat, super comfortable but I don’t feel naked like I would in just the teeny shorts, but…a question for my running friends: um…what do you do about the chafing?

5. Summer has finally arrived in our garden. You may or may not find a zucchini in your mailbox soon. Don’t worry: it’s organic.

Chafing – a nifty little product called Bodyglide – http://www.bodyglide.com/ – feels too viscous to work when you put it on, but it does work. Amazing for those of us who have big thighs and have always had chafing issues.

I wear longer workout pants that cover my thighs. Mostly so people don’t have to see my big wite cellulitey thighs, but also for chafing. Even in the heat of Texas, if I get something made of the right material, it won’t feel especially hot and it absolutely keeps me from chafing. But if that sounds crazy to you (and I think it will), yes, bodyglide.

    white, not wite

I find that coconut oil applied directly to the skin prior to showering and before working out works wonders to prevent chafing!!

I heart bodyglide. Vaseline is ok too, but can stain clothing.

    Body glide rules. And works.

I’ll be happy to take the blame for the honey!
I agree about bodyglide, but I use coconut oil for so many other things – I might have to try it for running. If I ever start running again. 🙂

I am going to place the blame with you for me starting to wash my face with honey. I’ve heard of it, but because of your link, I read up. We are picking up fresh honey today.

I’ve thought about doing Couch to 5K. I’m thinking about starting it in a few weeks when the kids start back to school. Mine are WAY too big for a running stroller, yet too small to be home alone. And I obviously need to check in with Claudia’s blog!

I just ran out of my Dr Hauschka cleansing milk and as much as I love it I was hesitating to place another order due to cost. Maybe I will have to try your trick!

I like Sport Shield better than Body Glide. It’s a roll-on and I suspect that the formula isn’t much different than “personal lubricants”. If bra chafing becomes an issue, you can stick moleskin onto the rubbed spots or place a thin ankle sock between you and the spot. A lot of my chafing issues come from being sweaty, so I put antiperspirant on places like my feet or under-bosom before a long run. Congratulations on sticking with it!

Seventh anniversary? No WAY. Your beautiful red wedding dress was from like, five minutes ago.
