Fall fiction workshops

Hey there,

I hope your summer is off to a good start! I know we’re barely into July, but it’s already time to start thinking about fall writing workshops.

First up, something new for me: I’ve joined the faculty of The Atheneum at The Attic Institute here in Portland. The wonderful novelist Mo Daviau and I will be the fiction instructors, and fellows will work closely with both of us. This is open to writers working on short stories, a novel, or both. The application deadline is July 20th. Let me know if you have any questions about it.

I’ll also still be teaching my 9-Month Novel Intensive with Literary Arts. No applications are necessary for that one, and all levels and all fiction genres are welcome, as long as you intend to workshop a novel or novella. (If you’re working on a story collection, this isn’t the class for you.) You can come with just the idea of a novel (or not even that) or with a project well under way. There are two sections offered, to accommodate demand. Here is the link to the Wednesday evening class, and here is the link for the Thursday evening class.

My Whole Novel Workshop will return in January 2027.

Looking to work with me one-on-one? I’m available for a few new coaching clients, for one or two meetings or on an ongoing basis. I’ll have room in my schedule to take on new manuscript consultation beginning in October.

You can also join my mailing list to be sure not to miss any future workshop announcements.

Enjoy the rest of your summer, and I hope to see some of you in class in September!
